SPI Communication of the IC ADS1298
I am doing my project to get the degree in electronic engineering. The project is about wireless digital ECG and I'm using the IC ADS1298 due to the great advantages it offers to acquire signals, but I have a problem with the SPI communication needed to operate the ADS1298, I approach you to get an answer satisfactory to my problem.I am using a module PSoC5 for SPI communication with the ADS1298, but not perfectly understand the operation of the ADS1298 SPI. In the IDE of the PSoC I have to choose whether the SPI is master or slave, and do not know how behaves the SPI of the ADS1298, ie I do not understand if to do communication between the PSoC5 and the ADS1298, I have to place the component SPI of the module PSoC5 in master mode or in slave mode to program the ADS1298.The other question is about the transmission of signals from the ADS1298 to a PC. How is it done and through which pins can be sent signals captured by the ADS1298 to the PC?
We are in the process of putting together a short video demo showing you how to hook up the ADS1298ECG-FE board to an external processor. We want to show the critical connections for the SPI interface and the power supply. Should be able to answer a lot of your questions. Hopefully it will be up within the month so stay tuned...
In addition to Tony's comments about the video, you'd have to configure your module as the SPI MASTER - the ADS1298 is an SPI SLAVE device. The module should be configured for Mode 1 (CPOL = 0 and CPHA = 1) operation. Communication of the conversion results back to the PC are via USB from the TMS320VC5509 found on the MMB0 base board that we use with our ADS1298ECGFE-PDK hardware. There are no pins on the ADS1298 that you can use to directly 'talk' to your PC.

I'm currently trying to figure out how to power the ADS1298 externally and reading through the documentation and FAQ it's still not entirely clear to me how to do it correctly.
