Hello!

I wanna know if it available to use WCT and GCT at the same time in the ADS1298 front-end? According to the datasheet it shouldn't be a problem, because there are no any tips about simultaneously use, but I'm not sure.

    Hi Alex,

    Kind of a difficult question to answer in one word. In our evaluation software, the augmented leads are derived in software after obtaining the Einthoven Triangle limb lead data. We then use the WCT output from the IC routed back around to the negative terminals of the chest lead channels for a reference point. That is how we are able to achieve 12-lead ECG using an eight channel part.

    Now, a secondary option is using the WCT registers, you can internally route back around the aVF, aVL, aVR to the negative terminal of channels 4-7 using the three internal WCT amplifiers.This allows you to measure the augmented leads a little differently rather than mathematically calculating them using the Einthoven Triangle data.

    The WCT output averages the WCTA, WCTB and WCTC internal amplifiers. Take a look at the WCT register details to see the control and flexibility that you have using the internal WCT amplifiers.

    According to the register map it's not a problem, because aVF_CH6, aVL_CH5, aVR_CH7, aVR_CH4 bits could be set regardless of other WCT bits. As I understood, the WCT signal is always on the WCT pin of IC, while the WCTA, WCTB and WCTC amplifiers are powered on. And in this case GCT signals could be routed to chanels 4-6  negative inputs by setting an appropriate bits. So all I can do is to try this approach.
