ADS1299-EEG-FE on Windows 8 64Bit.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1299

Has anyone gotten the ADS1299-EEG-FE to work on Windows 8 64 bit?

I've been trying for eight months but all I get is timeout errors downloading the firmware on device connect asking me to reset the device endlessly.

TI claims that it works on Windows 7 so Windows 8 should not be a problem.

The device manager has an exclamation mark saying that the driver is not digitally signed.

I changed the driver setup configuration to ASK ME but it still breezes through placing a cute icon on my desktop that does absolutely nothing.

The board works great on another Win XP machine.

Can any wizards out there help?

Regards,

Louis

  • Thank you for the tip Maciej.

The MMB0-VISA driver installed correctly from the device manager this time and the board is up and running.

  • I tried to disable the window driver signature enforcement through window advance start up --> (F7) Disable window driver signature enforcement.

But after restart the USB driver is still not recognized.

    The reference http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/ff547565(v=vs.85).aspx

    Leads  me to no where.

Can someone help to share some more details on how to install the driver manually on window 8?

  • After the driver signature enforcement is disabled you still need to select appropriate driver manually through the device manager.

  • Hi All,

I received a very detail solution from Louis about installing the driver manually in window 8:

Three things need to be done to make the ADS1299 work on WIN 8.
One, is to reboot the machine with Signed Driver Enforcement disabled.
Two, is to install the program with the board disconnected ignoring warning messages..
Three, is to plug in the board and to update the driver in Device Manager manually ignoring warning messages.

Do not plug in the board yet.
Top right click to bring up the charm.
Click Settings, Change PC settings, Update and recovery, Recovery, Advanced Startup, Restart Now.
Click Choose an option, Troubleshoot, Advanced options, Startup settings, Restart.
Press number 7 to disable driver signing.
When the machine reboots, run the ADS1299-eeg-fe-1.x.x.exe setup program.
Ignore warnings and keep installing all drivers allowing to make changes, Next, Agree, Install Anyway, Next, Install.
Do NOT check the RUN, then Click Finish and Make Shortcut.

Power up and plug in the board.
Click the folder icon at the bottom left to explore the PC.
Find THIS PC and Right Click.
    Select Properties, Device manager.
Scroll down to Unknown Device showing an exclamation mark.
Right click then left click on Update Driver for NI VISA USB devices.
    Click browse.
Select C, then Program Files x86, then ADS1299-FE.
The Include Subfolders box should be Checked already.
Click OK and Allow to make changes as necessary.
The exclamation mark in Device Manager should disappear.
Close Device Manager to go to the desktop.

Press the reset button on the board.

Run the ADS1299 program from the desktop icon.
    Wait for sync to complete.
The board display should now show a funny looking blue number 5 and a decimal point.

Click Acquire and wait a few seconds, then, Analysis and FFT.

If all is OK close the program, reboot the computer with the board still plugged in and run the program again to make sure all is still well.

The above solution solve the problem like a charm.

    Thank you Louis.
