DAC161S997 LDO selection

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC161S997, LM2936, LM9036

Hi,

When I select  LDO to supply power from the loop to the DAC the main criteria is small quiescent current.

What additional  requirements should the LDO satisfy?

For example could I use LP2980AIM5X-3.3 to supply the DAC161S997 from the loop?

  • Hi Oleksiy,

first of I would look for the input voltage, in order to survive in the 24V (I guess you need?) loop, the part should work up 36V at least. Next is output noise, supply rejection and maybe load rejection. From this point of view, the TPS79801 might be a good choice. Also the LM2936 might be a good choice, but this requires a relatively large output capcitor.

    Hope this helps

    Andreas

  • Thanks, for the help.

Finally I stop my choice on the two solutions:

    1) For budget case- LM9036 (requires large output capacitor)

    2) For high performance case - TPS7A4901.
