(ACTIVE) TIDA-00096 test board

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-00096, ADS1293, ADS1291

All,

I am working on ecg project, and come cross the Ti reference design TIDA-00096. the webpage says this board is "active", however I can not find where to purchase. can anyone point me to where to buy the test board? If not from TI, which 3rd party make this.

also question on the antenna "ANTENNA IIFA BLE", can it be replaced by a integrated antenna(component)? if so, which one is best for this application?

appreciate.

  • Hello Kelv,

This device is supported by our Precision Data Converters group and so I moved your posting to that forum.

    Praveen.

  • Hi Kelv,

This is just a reference design where all the design files are listed on the web landing page for you to build your own.  As is also stated on the TIDA-00096 web page we do not offer the board for sale.  See the circled section below.

    Best regards,

  • Thanks Bob,

    2 questions:

    1. Can I replace the PCB antenna with a antenna component? if so what wold you recommend.

    2. can I use this ads1293 for one channel only? leaving the other inputs not connected?

  • Hi Kelv,

This reference design is made up a several different TI products and support is rather complicated.  The Precision Dataconverter forum is supporting primarily the dataconverter portion of this design (ADS1293).  You do not need to use all inputs, so you can leave some unconnected.

As far as the various other portions, such as power, mcu or wireless, those questions should be made to the various forums that support those components.  As to the antenna, yes you could use something different, but you may be surprised at the efficiency of the PCB antenna.  It also reduces the BOM cost.  For starters I would take a look at the application notes with respect to the antenna here:

  • thanks bob and Joseph,

last question, in case of using one channel, can the ADS1293 be replaced by ADS1291 ?

    thanks

    Kelv

  • Hi Kelv,

The ADS1293 and ADS1291 are not part-to-part interchangeable and their operation is different. If you are concerned about power consumption, the amplifier, data converter and filters of the unused channels in the ADS1293 can be powered down to save power.

It should be possible to replace the ECG front-end with the ADS1291 but it would require both hardware and software development.
