Hi,

We currently use the ADC: ADS8361IDBQ, in our boards. I have several questions about it:

First, how can you specify the INL & the DNL values? Is there a method? Is it a split on a total error?

Second, how do we use these parameters to specify a resolution / accuracy?

And finally, do you have any test report presenting the performances of the INL and the DNL values?  A sort of calibration report with schematics and other kind of charts?

If not, could you please recommend us a set-up schematic with the required equipment on how to perform the measurements?

Can we assess the INL & DNL on simulation?

Is there any excel sheet, with automatic calculations that could helped us?

    Hi Paulo,

    Welcome to the e2e forum!  I'm curious to know more about your project - what sort of application are you using the ADS8361 in?  I'm not sure what you posted from the datasheet (From DS:) in your original post, it did not come through, but I suspect it was some of the curves from page 8.

    A good place to start with understanding how INL/DNL influence resolution and accuracy might be this application note: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/slaa013/slaa013.pdf

    Hi Tom,

    thanks for the links very instructive.

    We use the ADS8361( 5V PS and 2.5V ref)  in our boards to converte A to D data (IN ±16V) ; the schematic is nothing but specific, with a front end  differential opamp followed by a rc filter.

    The missing datas from the DS are those from p.8 you're right.

    I was wondering if you guys have any test report or any test procedure, because one of our customers asked for it.

    Still, if you have any other link with references for test equipements or any sheet to calculate INL / DNL or basiclally to characterize an ADC, I would appreciate it very much.
