Can I use opa350 to create reference plane for multiple ADS1255

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1255, OPA350, REF5025

Dear TI team,

We need your help on the followings.

In our design,  we have four ADS1255 chips on a board. The board space is very limited and all the 4 chips are using 2.5v reference. We are wondering is it possible to driving the 4 reference input pin with a single driving circuits as suggested in the datasheet(figure26)?

We are thinking of using a small piece of the power plane of the PCB(4 layer with internal power plane) to route the reference net. Each reference input pin has its own filtering  as shown on datasheet figure 25. The four ads1255 may sampling at same time. Will this work?

And if this method will not work, do you have any recommendation of small voltage reference part(like sot23-3 package) capable of direct driving ADS1255? Thanks!

  • Hi Yiyang,

Welcome to the TI E2E Forums!

I do not see any issues with what you are proposing!
The OPA350 can certainly drive this capacitive load. Additionally, giving each ADS1255 its own reference filter will prevent transient current from one ADC's reference from affecting another ADC's reference.

Do you plan to use something like the REF5025 for the 2.5V reference input? Using something more precise than a resistor divider is important here!

Additionally, we can review your layout (when you're ready), if you would like us to!

    Best Regards,
    Chris

  • Hi Chirs,

Thanks for the reply and I would like to send the layout to you for a review. Thank you!

    Best Regards,
