Battery level doesn't get update in ads1293 wireless heart rate monitor.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2541, ADS1293, CC2540

Hi ,

I have using the ads193 wireless heart rate monitor. I have try to check the battery level of the Wireless heart rate device. i have used the battery service and other necessary thing as such in key fob. but when i try to battery level it doesn't get displayed in my android program.

Could anyone suggest me the necessary steps to implement battery level status in the device.

  • Hi Mari,

The ADS1293 has a low-battery alarm and also an option for battery monitoring (Section 8.3.2 in the datasheet), but I think that the battery service that you are trying to access is from the CC2541... is that correct?

    Thanks,
    Sergio
  • Hi sergio,

yes, i am trying to access the battery level through cc2541 as such in Keyfob program. I have included the functionality to transfer the battery level status but i didn't expected result. i have doubt in the circuit design that  battery level read pin is connected to cc2541 or not. Could you able to guide me in right direction to sort out the issue.

    Thanks,

  • Hi Mari,

My first thought was the same: is the battery connected to the CC2541? I am not familiar with the CC2541, but I brefly searched in the user's guide (http://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/swru191) and it appears that the connection for battery check is done internally in an ADC block of the CC2541. Please see section 12.1 of the link that I provided and figure 12-1, and let me know if you reach the same conclusion as I did.

I also found this description about the Battery Check routine in a family device, the CC2540: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Category:KeyFobDemo#Battery_Check. It describes that the battery check function uses the CC2540's integrated ADC, sets the ADC's reference to 1.25V (which seems to be the internal reference of the CC254x), and sets the ADC input to one-third of VDD.

I am more inclined to say that the issue is related to the configuration of the CC2541 device, and I would recommend you to post the same question, from this new angle, in the Bluetooth® Low Energy Forum.

The ADS1293's Wireless Heart Monitor with BLE reference design contains devices from various product areas in TI, which makes the support more complex. You are always welcome to send me a question for this project, and if I can't answer it, I'll do my best to direct you to the right forum.

    Thank you and best regards,

    Sergio
