question about ads1292r

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1292R, ADS1291, ADS1292

Dear support,

I'm going to use ads1292r to start a new project, and in the ads1292r's datasheet, there are some DNIs in the schematic(see the picture), what does it means?

if I ues ads1292r, can i ignore the part in the dashed box where there is a DNI ?

  • Jun,

DNI stands for Do Not Install and means that the part is not populated on the board. I'm also moving your post to the precision data converters forum if you have any other questions.

  • hi,
thanks so much, one more question,in page 60 of ads1292r's datasheet, there's a paragraph like this:Each ADS1291, ADS1292, and ADS1292R supply should be bypassed with 10-μF and a 0.1-μF solid ceramic
    capacitors.
but in the schematic of TI'EVM, the supply ADS_DVDD didn't bypass with 10-μF and a 0.1-μF solid ceramic
    capacitors,why?
  • Hello Jun,

You’re right; all power supplies should be bypassed. If the EVM schematic you’re referring to is the ADS1292R Demonstration Kit, there are some bypass capacitors on DVDD, but they are a little hard to locate. I've attached two images (unfortunately I couldn't rotate them to the correct orientation). The first an image of the schematic where the device is located. Notice in the upper right hand corner there are a few capacitors (C14, C15, C18, C19) that are connected by name to ADS_DVDD. If you’ll then refer to the layout for the top of the PCB, which is the following image, you might find those capacitors laid out right next to the ADC. Those capacitors are the digital supply bypass capacitor for the ADS1292R on the EVM. I apologize for the confusion.

    Regards,

    Brian

  • hi Brian,
thanks for your reply, but there's no 10-μF bypassed capacitors, is it ok?
  • Jun,

From what I can tell, the 10-uF in the line of the text is a typo, but either way it shouldn't make much of a difference as far as performance is concerned. Since on the EVM we used 1-uF, I would recommend you use that as well.
