ADS1298 Standards Testing

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1298

Is there data from TI proving that the ADS1298 meets the IEC/AAMI/ANSI standards that they list on the specification sheet? ( AAMI EC11, EC13, IEC60601-1, IEC60601-2-27, and IEC60601-2-51). Of concern to me is AAMI EC11 standard 3.2.11, which involves applying a 60 Hz, 20 V rms signal to the electrodes.

  • Hey George,

The standards which are specified on the datasheet are system level standards. Their listing on the datasheet indicates that the device will not disqualify a system from meeting the standard. Specifically regarding a 20 V RMS signal on the electrodes, that signal should not sent directly to the inputs of the ADS1298. However, if the signal can by buffered and attenuated before it reaches the converter, then the ADS1298 can certainly be used.
