ADS8332 maximum Vref?

I have a design using a MAX1168 that I want to replace with the ADS8332. The Maxim part specifies the maximum Vref = AVcc (i.e. +5V). However, the ADS8332 specifies the maximum Vref = +4.2V at AV=+5V. Is it permissible to increase the Vref to +5V?

    Hello Peter,

    I'm afraid the behavior of the ADS8332 has not been characterized for values of the reference voltage above 4.2V. Technically, it should be possible to drive VREF to VA without inflicting any damage to the part, but we cannot guarantee performance when the part is operated this way.
