ADS7828E pullup voltage

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TXS0102, ADS7924

Dear TI-er.

My customer is designed ADS7828E & MCU.

ADS7828E is using 3.3 voltage power supply.

MCU is using 5 voltage power supply.

Generally, Pullup resistor of I2C line is 3.3 voltage power supply.

but, It is designed 5 voltage power supply.

Do this have issues ?

Plz help me.

  • Hello Kiyoung,

Unfortunately the digital inputs can not exceed the VDD voltage on this device.  The Absolute Maximum Ratings table of page 2 specifies the max digital input voltage as +VDD+0.3V.

You could operate the ADS7924 with VDD=5V or alternatively place a voltage level translator device between the MCU and ADS7924.  A bidirectional voltage-level translator for open-drain applications  such as the TXS0102 series works well with I2C interface devices.

    Best Regards,

    Luis
