Using the AMC6821 with Windows 7 or Alternatives

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AMC6821

I am evaluating the AMC6821 using the USB-MODEVM board for my company. I am finding difficulty with this, as the software provided with the EVM kit is not compatible with windows 7. I am wondering if there is a driver that I am not seeing or if there is something I can do to use the kit with windows 7.

Is there an alternative method I can use to interface with the device?

  • Howdy James,

Welcome to the e2e forums!  Unfortunately the AMC6821EVM requires a PC operating under Windows XP, as the drivers are not supported with newer operating systems.

The USB MODEVM is mostly responsible for power supplies and I2C communication.  Without this board you would need to provide your own micro-controller platform for communication (to set registers), and external supplies to power the AMC6821 device.

To connect the I2C lines and power supplies please refer to page 40 of the User's Guide, as this shows the complete schematic of the EVM.

    Hope this information helps.

    Best Regards,

    Matthew Sauceda
