ADCPro Troubleshoot Help

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADCPRO, ADS1115EVM-PDK

I'm trying to install ADCPro on my computer and I'm getting a weird error pop-up when I try to launch the program.

I know that the software is only supported on Windows XP with SP3 installed, which is what I am using. Any input would be highly appreciated.

  • Josh,

Out of curiosity, which EVM are you trying to use?

  • Hi Joseph,

I'm trying to utilize the ADS1115EVM in conjunction with the ADS1115EVM-PDK. I installed the corresponding drivers as well. ADCPro doesn't seem to properly load, however.

  • Josh,

I'm not sure why your last post isn't showing up, but I got the message that this is for the ADS1115EVM. This is a bit of an odd error and we don't see this one much.

Another set of questions: Have you ever used any of our other EVMs or used ADCPro before on this computer? Do you have any other versions of LabView on this computer?

    Joseph Wu
  • Joseph,

Sorry for the late response. I'm actually using somebody else's old computer, but I don't believe ADCPro has ever been installed on this machine before. The version of LabView installed on here is v6.0.

  • Josh,

Can you find ‘Startup Error.txt” in C:\Users\Public\Documents\ADCPro\saved? If it is there, post back the contents of the file.

Over the course of supporting this software, we've seen many errors, but I don't think we've come across this one.

It's possible the old LabView version might be causing this error, but LabView usually installs in parallel, so that you clear things up.

One additional question: You are trying to run the executable and not run the LabView files locally, correct? Just making sure that is the case.

  • Joseph,

The directory that you asked me to check did not exist on my computer. However, I did check C:\Program Files\ADCPro\saved and there was nothing in there.

I've only tried to run the .exe that came with the installer.

Of course I would run into an error that's never been found before, just my dumb luck.

  • Hello Josh -

A couple more questions for you to try and figure out what you are seeing.

    In the root application folder:

    • do you see a file called options.ini? (contents are not important at this time)
    • do you see the following folders? (contents are not important at this time)
      • evm
      • pdk_lib
      • plugins
      • saved
      • tools
    • do you see a file called adcpro.ini?
    • Can you provide the content of the file (or the file) to us?  It should just contain mapping to folder and locations; you can open it and verify for your knowledge.  You can either post/attach here or send it to pa_deltasigma_apps<at>ti.com (replace <at> with @.

Hopefully this information can point to something we can use to help resolve this for you.

  • Hello,

    options.ini exists.

All folders (with the exception of evm) exist.

I have attached adcpro.ini with this response.

I appreciate the help you folks have been providing me.

  • Hello Josh -

    quick question -

Where did you obtain this software?  From the product page, CD, post, other?

So you can try two things to see if this helps.

    1. You should be able to edit the adcpro.ini file (you will need admin access).  Edit the EnableLauncher line to be FALSE.  Save the file and then trying running ADCPro.
    2. If #1 does not work, please uninstall ADCPro and use the link provided at www.ti.com/adcpro.

  • Hi Greg,

I had edited the adcpro.ini file per your suggestion and the error still persists. I had originally obtained the software via the link you provided, but I performed a clean reinstall to no avail.

  • Hello Josh -
    OK, thanks for trying.
One more thought...the DataDir path from the file above (or from your current adcpro.ini file), does it exist? In other words, can you navigate to that directory? If not, try changing it to an existing directory and see if that helps
  • Greg,

It worked! Thanks for taking the time to figure this one out, I seriously appreciate it.
