electrode and firmware for ads1299 eeg fe-kit .

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1299, ADS1299EEGFE-PDK

Hi,

I am using the ads1299 eeg fe-kit to collect eeg or ecg signal. Can you please take a look at following two questions? Thanks.

Can I just use wire to connect the body and the board? In  'ADS1299EEG-FE Users Guide (Rev. A)' , Figure 36. Dedicated Reference and Bias Electrode, why the electrode is composed of a pair of resistor and capacitor?  Is it mandatory to use this pair of resistor and capacitor as the electrode, or they are just a model of the electrode?

By the way, if I purchase 'ADS1299EEGFE-PDK:ADS1299EEG-FE Performance Demonstration Kit', it seems there is no firmware for this kit. Do you know where to download it?

Thank you!

Regards,

Chia

  • Hey Chia,

The resistors and capacitor in parallel are a simple model for electrode-body interface impedance.

We have recently changed accessibility to the EVM source code for that device. You can now find the firmware for the EVM on the product page for the EVM. From the page, scroll down to the table where you would order the EVM and just beneath that row is a row with the words "ADS1299EEGFEFW-C5509: Firmware Source for ADS1299EEG Front End Performance Demonstration Kit". Go ahead and click "Download".

  • Thank you so much!

    I found the source code.

For the electrode, Can I just connect the pin on the board to the body via some wire? I mean, without any other components attached to the wire, or any special electrode, just wire?

    Thank you!

    Qi

  • Qi,

Any conductor should do, but I'm legally compelled to advise you against using the EVM on a live patient. Instead, use the evaluation kit in a laboratory environment with a patient simulator or signal generator as a means of evaluating the performance of the ADS1299 for your own design.

  • Thank you so much!

I just received the ads1299eeg-fe board, but the software from TI web seems doesnot work well on windows8. The USB driver is not installed.
Is this software for winxp/vista only? But I cannot find laptops like this.
What should I do to let it work on the window8?

By the way, I installed 'ADS1299EEGFEFirmware-1.0.2-installer' too, but how to use it to download the firmware to the board?
    Any user manual?

    Thank you!

  • The USB driver is ok now when disable windown8 signature requirement.

But the labview software does not work and there are many errors: (screen shot

    Thank you!
  • Hey Qi,

Yes the EVM is only designed to run with Windows XP and 7. Are you using the installed binary to run this or are you running the source files independently? The binaries should do everything for you - load the firmware, run the LabVIEW runtime engine, run the GUI. TI typically does not provide technical support for compiling and running the source files themselves since the ADS1299EEG-FE is an evaluation module for the ADS1299 IC and is not intended to be used as a development platform. I should also inform you that we typically do not provide technical support for Windows 8 users since the software was not designed for that OS.

  • Hi Thank you so much!

I tried the old version of the pc software (ads1299-eeg-fe-1.0.2), and it can acquire data on windows8 after disabling digital signature of the OS.
But the newest version from TI web doesnot work, because of many libview compiler errors. Dont know why.
