ADS1198ECGFE-PDK: Evaluation software issue

Part Number: ADS1198ECGFE-PDK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1298, ADS1198

Downloaded and Installed the ads1198ecg-fe-setup-1.1.1.exe  software, but didnt work from first. Reading forums succeded to jump over the usblb0.dll missing problem, but the software still not find a lot of vias. I have triad on Win7, XP machine too, but it looks that I face also this issues that many others. It is really no solution for this problem ? As I see many are struggling with this. Cant be allocated someone to solve these issues forever ???

  • Zoltan,

Can you please describe in detail the problem that you are seeing?

    Brian
  • Hi Brian,

Finally succeded to make it work, but is really annoying, too download and install and reinstall, etc. Read a lot of forums, copy dll from one location to other, download install from NI. Find download install MMB0 driver. So why the main install cant contain all of them and not the user have to hunt and spend a day to make it work. And as I saw Im not alone.

It looks that this dev board is not a success story, at least at my side. Bought it received an opened, sun burned pack, without power supply. Than farnell changed with a new one still without power supply. After lot of emailing find that TI issued under same part number several revisions, and removed the power supply. Why can not change a letter on the name, to know anyone that this is rev A other is rev B ?

But avanced with development even with above issues, and I found hat on the dev. board schematic the grounds are little strange, at least for for me. The ADS DGND is connected to AGND, and AGND is used also for input filters too. On power section AVDD is related to AGND too, while AGND and AVSS are not tide together, or I missed it. Im now confused a little to follow the datasheet "analog supply (AVDD) is
referenced to analog ground (AVSS) and digital supplies (DVDD) are referenced to digital ground (DGND)" or the ECG Front-End Performance Demonstration Kit User's Guide ???

    Thank You !
    Zoltan
  • Hey Zoltan,

Thanks for letting us know your story about this. We will definitely take this feedback into consideration going forward.

The ADS1298 can take either dual analog supplies or a single analog supply. AVSS and AGND cannot be tied together because they may not be the same voltage. The ADS1298 datasheet is the key document for understanding the power supply configurations. The jumpers on JP2 and JP20 allow you to chose the power supply configuration. The RC filters can really go to any dc voltage since dc voltages are "ac ground".

    Regards,

  • Zoltan,

Correction: ADS1198. My comments still apply.

  • Hi Zoltan,
Would you please share how did you solve the software problem? I have the exact same problem and can't get the software running
