ADS1246: conversion start signal

Part Number: ADS1246

HI,

Let me ask a question about the ADS 1246 conversion start signal
There are two types of AD conversion start trigger: "Pulse input to START pin" and "Send SYNC command".

Question 1:
When an active signal is input to the START pin during AD conversion,
or which SYNC command is sent, which signal or command takes priority ?

Question 2:
When the conversion start signal becomes active again for the conversion execution,
will the AD conversion in progress be interrupted and a new conversion is started ?

Question 3:
When converting is interrupted during conversion and conversion is started again,
which of the "input pulse to START pin" or "send SYNC command" should be used?

best regards

  • Cafain-san,

Generally, you can consider the rising edge of the START pin and the SYNC command to be functionally the same. Neither have a priority over the other.

When a SYNC has been issued and the conversion has not been completed and then a START rising edge is given, the first SYNC is ignored and the digital filter is reset without completing the first conversion. The if you switch the SYNC command and the START pin rising edge, the same is true, and the digital filter is reset without completing the first conversion.

If you want to interrupt a conversion and restart it, you can use either the START pin pulse or the SYNC command. Both will work. Note that if you hold down the START pin during which a conversion is completed, this will put the device into power-down mode.
