ADS1298: unipolar power supply

Part Number: ADS1298

Using a unipolar analog supply(AVDD=3.3V ,AVSS=0V) for ADS1298. According to the datasheet figure 27, is it necessary to impressed a common-mode voltage(1.5V) to the INP and  INN to make the input signals be offset to the  mid-range?

  • Hello Wang,

There must be a valid common-mode for the input signals otherwise they will be "floating" with respect to the board supplies. Having the common-mode be near mid-supply maximizes the range of the individual input voltages. The integrated RLD amplifier is used to generate the voltage to apply to the patient with the RL electrode. This will drive the patient to a valid common-mode voltage.
