DAC7760: Output voltage

Part Number: DAC7760

Concerning the output voltage control from 0-10V to +/-10V:

Setting output ranges according to the Table 7.

Modifying the values of Rg1 and Rg2 illustrated in Figure 97.

Are there any other implements?

  • Howdy Jingtai,

The illustration in Figure 97 represents a generic illustration of typical PLC current and voltage outputs, and represents a simple model of the circuitry incorporated within the DAC7760 device.

As you pointed out, Table 7 does show the corresponding voltage/current ranges for specified RANGE bit values.  To select a specific range, just program the bit to the desired range value.  For a +/-10V range the RANGE bits should be programmed as "011".

This, along with other functionality pertaining to the characteristic response of the VOUT output can be configured in the Control Register 0x55.  The "OUTEN" bit should then be set as '1' to enable VOUT.

This information is found in page 40 of the datasheet.

Please let me know if this answers your question.

    Best Regards,

    Matt

  • Thanks for your support. It is easier to users only setting in DAC7760 without taking care external potentiometers. Otherwise the circuit will be complicated in order to realize resistor adjustment.

  • Hi Jingtai,

I'm glad I could be of assistance :)  You are correct, these devices include many different features that set them apart from their discrete PLC counterparts. These features include multiple current and voltage output ranges, internal 5V reference, Internal 4.6V Power-Supply Output, various alarm functionality and normal operation within a wide temperature range (-40C to 125C).

If you have any other questions related to the device please let me know.

    Best Regards,

    Matt

  • Thank you very much.
