ADS1293EVM: Issue accessing ADS1293 EVM with external processor

Part Number: ADS1293EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1293, CC2650

Hello All,

I would like to test ADS1293 functionality by connecting ADS1293 EVM SPI pins to SMARTRF06 board.

I removed JP2 and JP3 jumbpers on ADS1293_EVM and applying external power source on VDD_INP jumper. I am using J2 connector to interface SPI and IOs from CC2650 SMARTRF06 board.

But ADS1293 is not working properly, sometimes it sends data and sometimes it stops working suddenly.

Can  ADS1293 EVM really be used with external processors?

Is there any care to be taken when we do this?

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Regards

Lakshmikanth

  • Hello Lakshmikanth,

By default, the MSP430 on the EVM board controls the ADS1293. If it is still powered up, then it is driving the SCLK, CS, and MOSI pins. If you try to control them with another processor at the same time, there will be a conflict and the communication will not work properly. To disconnect the MSP430, depopulate R26, R25, and R28. You can review the schematic at the bottom of the EVM User's Guide for reference.
