ADS1293: Can I use the ADS1293 for a 3 channel EMG

Part Number: ADS1293

Electromyography (EMG) is the standard modality for measuring muscle activity.

I need to record 3 different muscles. These muscles are on the face. (masseter and temporalis). Can I do this with the ADS1293? Without a legdriver? And only with3.3Volt psu?

  • Hello Stefan,

Yes, you can use the 1293 to record those muscles, if you're not going to use the legdrive or a similar common mode voltage reference. you'll want to bias the inputs to mid supply not VDD_3 after the AC coupling capacitors. You can either use RLDOUT, that way the signals are referenced to the middle of the supply range or you can add resistors to make a voltage divider while using VDD_3.
  • Hello Matt

Thank you for the infos. I changed the 3.3Volt to RLDOUT and add some C for filter.

If I understand you right, there is no problem to use only 3.3Volt for Powersupply. That's very good.

Do Ti have protection diodes for the Input? More or less special for this funcion?
