ADS1210: The calibration command issue timing

Part Number: ADS1210

Hi,

Let me ask you the procedure to issue "calibration" command.

Is it possible to issue the command to initialize ADS1210 setting and do calibration at the same time?

That is to say,

After setting(writing) INSR, continue to set(write) CMR3 to CMR0 in sequence. ("Calibration" is set by CMR2.)

This means that after setting CMR2,  the calibration will be started, I think.

Is this right procedure?

Or "calibration command" should be issued after setting ADS1210?

Sorry for my poor explanation..

Thank you in advance.

Best Regards,

  • Hi Suzuki-san,

The decode of the Command Registers takes place at the conclusion of the INSR number of bytes.  So the calibration, if set in the writing of the configuration, will take place after the Command Registers have been written.  The real question is whether or not you really want to do this as calibration will depend on a fully settled reference.  Personally I like to verify my register settings before I calibrate so I do this in two steps waiting to issue the calibration after the configuration is verified and the reference has completely settled.  The reference settling time will depend on reference source and capacitive loading.
