LDC1000: LDC1000

Part Number: LDC1000

I recently purchased a LDC 1000 evaluation module. The module was initially displaying both the proximity data and inductance windows in the gui then after a while the inductance stopped showing. Kindly suggest a solution. Inductance is constantly displaying zero and the gui shows a prompt window at the starting that says that data streaming is not possible till interrupt is active.

  • Hi Deepa,

Are you using the Sensing Solutions GUI or the original LDC1000 EVM GUI? Also please note that the LDC1000 is currently not recommended for new devices. The LDC1101 is an improved version of the LDC1000, which we would recommend in its place. We also have the LDC device selection guide to compare all LDC devices.

    Regards.

  • Hi kristin,

I am using the GUI version 1.0.4.1. I guess this is the original, right?

Anyway, I solved that problem. I compared the configuration with that of the standard and found that in clock configuration 'Disable frequency counter clock' was selected. Once I changed it to enable it started responding.

But I have a separate issue now. I am using my own loop and I am not able to set the Rpmax and Rpmin values the empirical way by decrementing and incrementing register values as after changing the values twice or so, the gui stops working. What do I do about it? And while changing, do we see the value corresponding to the two blue lines? The empirical method says while fixing the value for Rpmin we need decrement and check if the counts reach between 20000-30000. This value is the one corresponding to blue markers?

  • Hi Deepa,

The original GUI has some known issues. I strongly recommend that you use the Sensing Solutions GUI, which has solved many of the original GUI's bugs. You can download the Sensing Solutions GUI from the LDC1000EVM homepage. If your issue persists with the Sensing Solutions GUI, please feel free to post again and we would be happy to help you debug. Again, I highly recommend using the improved inductive sensing devices instead of the LDC1000, which can be challenging to use.

    Regards,

  • I tried using the sensing solutions gui but it is not detecting my ldc1000evm. Do I have to do anything additional apart from installing and connecting the device in usb port?

  • Hi Deepa,

Could you go into Device Manager and check under the COM ports section to see if you see "EVM" when the board is connected to your computer? If not, the device drivers likely didn't install correctly.

    Regards,
  • The device is now detecting but even for the sensing coil attached with the Ldc1000 evm i am getting strange waveforms. Not a constant inductance value.

  • Hi Deepa,

I believe I answered your question in the new thread you posted, here:
