TLV2553: Valid conversion after power up

Part Number: TLV2553

I have a few questions about the behavior of the device in shutdown mode.

When the device is placed in software power off and then powered back on is only the first conversion invalid?

When the device is in auto power off and powered on is the first conversion valid?

  • Peter,

When the TLV2553 is in software power-down, the device is in power-down until a valid address is read. This does not give enough acquisition time for the first frame, and valid conversion results can only be made available in the next frame.

In case of auto-shutdown the ADC recovers right after a CS active is received, allowing sufficient acquisition time to successfully sample and convert in the same frame.

Since software power-down consume less current, it is preferred in scenarios where the ADC is inactive for a longer period of time.
