Video Decoder and Application Processor

Hi Everyone,

I am looking for a solution, basically a Wi-Fi transmitter which transmit compressed video to the receiver.

Input to the transmitter should support all the below.

· HDMI
· DVI
· VGA
· Component Video
· S Video

There are some video decoder (TVP5146) which support analog input. But for digital, I couldn't find processor which support HDMI or DVI input.

My request, can some one suggest decoder which support analog and digital input and decode to common output format, so that I can input to application processor to compress and transmit over Wi-Fi.

Regards,

Vinoth Sekar

  • TI does not have a multi-format video decoder unfortunately.

The closest would be a TVP5150/TVP5147/TVP5160 for PAL/NTSC, a TVP7002 for analog RGB/YPbPr and a TFP401/TFP501 for DVI. We don't have HDMI or Display Port receivers.

    Thank you Steve,

could you please suggest low cost application processor to compress the video and send it over Wi-Fi.

Also that processor would support both TVPxxxx and TFPxxx as video input.

Unfortunately this is not a trivial question and the answer depends on video resolution, compression format, color formats and a slew of other factors.

I don't know too much about different processor capabilities and you would probably get a better answer in the forums that support the OMAP and/or DaVinci processors.
