TVP5147M1 Video Output

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TVP5147M1, TVP5150

Hello,

In one of our designs we are using the TVP5147M1 devices to convert PAL video to 20-bit 4:2:2 YCrCb video. We are displaying the video but we see two black vertical bars, one in the right size and the other in the left size, as shown in the following picture. The image size is 720x576

We have set the following configuration in TVP5147M1 device:

Input Select Register (00h): 01h

Video Standard Select Register (02h): 00h

Autoswitch Mask Register (04h): FFh

Luminance Processing Control 3 Register (08h): 00h

Chrominance Processing Control 2 Register (0Eh): 04h

AVID Start Pixel Register (16h-17h): 5Dh-00h

AVID Stop Pixel Register (18h-19h): 31h-03h

VSYNC Start Line Register (1Eh-1Fh): 01h-00h

VSYNC Stop Line Register (20h-21h): 04h-00h

VBLK Start Line Register (22h-23h): 6Fh-02h

VBLK Stop Line Register (24h-25h): 17h-00h

Sync Control Register (32h): 00h

Output Formatter Control 1 Register (33h): 01h

Output Formatter Control 2 Register (34h): 11h

Output Formatter Control 3 Register (35h): EEh

Output Formatter Control 4 Register (36h): AFh

Remaining registers are set to default value.

Could you please help to us to solve the problem about the black bars?

Thank you very much

Best regards,

Alberto

  • Hi ,

Could you check the width of video input?  I think it is a cropped D1 formant, which is 704 perline.

If so, you can change  the AVID start/stop pixel and the capture side at back end.

    BR,

    Eason

  • Thank you very much for you reply. Could you please tell me how can I check if the input video has 704 or 720 pixels per line?

    Best regards,
    Alberto
  • Hello Eason,

I`m going to update the situation. Yesterday I injected other source of analog video to TVP5147M1 device. My collages said to me that the resolution of this video is 720x576. With the same configuration that I sent to you yesterday I obtained the following image.

As you can see, the two black vertical bars have been reduced respect with the other pattern but we still have four black pixels per line (two in the right size and other two in the left size).

We have a requirement that the image size shall be 720x576 so I cannot to change de AVID stop/start configuration in order to change the size of the image.

Do you know if I have any mistake in the configuration of the device?

    Best regards,

    Alberto

  • Hi, as you can see , it depends on the video source.

TVP5150 simply capture what it get from inputs.

I suggest using the video trigger feature of occiliscope and compare the length of line between the 2 cameras.
