TVP7002 generating composite from RGBHV

Hi Steve,

Can you supply more detail on how the TVP7002>THS8200 evaluation board is being used?

Which input and output formats are being used?   

Which dataset is being used to program the evalution board using the WinVcc EVM software?

I have tried a composite to composite conversion using the evaluation board that worked fine.  With that I connected an YCbCr signal to the BNC (TVP7002 side) of the evaluation and got a working YCbCr signal out from the THS8200 side.  The resolution was at 720p and the preset I used on WinVCC EVM software was preset number 10.

I want to convert a RGBHV signal to component so I used the same preset (#10) and supplied a signal from my PC at 1280x720@60Hz which should be the same as 720p component.  I changed the input MUX to RGB, the clamp control to all Bottom and enabled the Colour-Space conversion.  This produced the desired picture from my PC in component form except the VSync is moving through the picture.  The picture looks fine apart from the scrolling, hop this information helps, thanks in advance

I am unable to reproduce this issue here using 720p+discrete syncs connected to the VGA connector on the EVM.

On the TVP7002 Status Property Sheet:

Is 750 lines reported in the Lines/frame status?

Is "From HSYNC" and "From VSYNC" reported in the Sync Input Status?

With the RGBHV input connected to the VGA connector, Is a VSYNC signal present  at pin 4 of U6?

I have managed to solve the problem thanks to the questions you asked.  The VSYNC was present on U6 and both syncs were present in the Sync Status Boxes.  However, when I checked the lines/frames value it was 746 measured value on the TVP7002 and was 750 in the property sheet for the THS8200.  I changed the THS8200 Frame size to 746 and the picture is now stable.  Thanks for your help.

In your final apllication, do you want to use the TVP7002 or THS8200 to convert from RGB to YPbPr component 720p?  Both devices have color space converters.

Attached is an EVM setup file that uses the TVP7002 to convert from RGB to YCbCr.  The THS8200 outputs YPbPr.

 I use the TVP7002 to convert from RGB to YPbPr component 720p.  I follow your settings,but when I use  YPbPr-to-VGA 

Video Converter  to connect  PC monitor ,it displays  NO Signal. I want to know if  the output of  the tvp7002 is standard  720P@60 and there are some important settings  both hardware and software to be special noticed. For example,the pin 47 FID of  Ths8200 should be pull the logic low, is it right ?

If you are using the EVM, you can rename the setup file that was sent to ".cmd" and use the WinVcc tool to program both TVP7002 and THS8200 for 720p RGB to 720p YPbPr conversion.  If you connect 720p RGB to the TVP VGA connector, 720p YPbPr should be present at the THS8200 output after programming the EVM with the CMD file.

Embedded syncs are used between the TVP and THS8200.  The FID pin is not used.  I would look at the THS8200 GY outpit with a scope to see if 720p YPbPr is present.

Dear steven, it's my pleasure to have talk with you. If I want to capture five-wire video signal(RGBHV). How do I connect  the external field synchronization to TVP7002? How to deal with the two  HSYNC inputs? Can you give more detail information? Thank you!
