TVP5150AM1: Problem at the monochrome video(CVBS) input with no color burst

Part Number: TVP5150AM1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TVP5150A

Hello,

Regarding to the monochrome video(CVBS) input with no color burst on TVP5150AM1, my customer is asking some question.

They are using this device for security camera option product.

(Problem)

After the monochrome video(CVBS) with no color burst is input for more than one hour,

When color video (CVBS)format is input as next input, the output does not change to color. (Keep monochrome.)

This problem is happened in market.

So, we have to make solve this problem as soon as possible.

(Question)

(1) According to e2e(below), I guess that the patch code for firmware is needed to solve this problem.

(Patch code version : v04.8C.AA <- It’ OK?)

My understanding is correct?

(2)The patch code is loaded into internal RAM on TVP5150AM1.

So do we need to load every time device power up or recovery from standby mode ?

  • I believe that patch code is required to fix the issue completely, yes.

    You might be able to avoid loading patch code if you toggle the video mode in the same manner that the other customer mentioned in the post was able to, but this would cause a momentary disruption in the video stream.

    Patch code is stored in internal RAM of the TVP so would need to be uploaded every time the TVP looses power. You should not need to re-download when returning from standby mode though.

  • Hello Steve,

    Thank you for reply.
    I suggested the patch code(v04.8C.AA ) to my customer and they will confirm improvement with it soon.

    They have a question about revision number.
    (Question)
    What number is new revision number after running patch code?
    The patch code is v04.8C.AA. (TVP5150A_v048CAA.zip)
    (Before running patch.)
    Address: 0x82 -> Data: 0x04
    Address: 0x83 -> Data: 0x00

    (After running patch.)
    Address: 0x82 -> Data: 0x04
    Address: 0x83 -> Data: 0x?? <-- What's number?

  • I am not sure.

    If it is not noted in the patch release notes then you will need to load the patch and check it.

    Sorry.

    Steve
