TVP5150AM1: Analog input range of video decoder

Part Number: TVP5150AM1

Hi,

We need to use a decoder ic for our camera module CS0313-PB,

the camera output is "Composite Video signal: 1.0Vp-p, 75 ohms".

we are planned to move with TVP5150, but its maximum analog input range is 0-0.75 VPP.

i think it is difficult to interface both devices, Could you please suggest any suitable part or any solution?

Regards

Jom sabu

  • Hi Jom,

Please refer to sticky note at:

  • Jom,

Please refer to application figure 6-1 in the datasheet and you will see that there is a resistor divider recommended on the input path for exactly this reason :)

This resistor divider maintains correct 75R termination.

    Steve

    Hello Team,

    Thanks for the response,
we need to interface the Tvp5150 with IMX6solo, I think the both Interfaces will be technically ok.
Do you have any previous experience on that, is there any issue (like image quality or lag issues)?

    Regards

    Jom,

As I mentioned previously the TVP5150 should be fine for this application.

If you need higher quality you can use the TVP5147 or TVP5160

    Steve

    Jom,
The digital output from the TVP family of devices is a standard format so should work with any standards compliant sink.
Regarding quality, the TVP5150 family is the lower quality set of devices. For higher decoder quality you can also look at the TVP5147 and the TVP5160.
Regarding lag, the TVP devices will introduce minimal lag of a few scan line delays which equates to approximately 240uS or so depending on which device is used. The TVP5160 has about 2 fields of delay for the 3D comb filter.
Many customers have connected the TVP deviecs to iMX processors.

    Hello Steve

    Thanks for your support!

We are using VGA camera, its resolution is 640 X 480.

TVP5150, is it possible to work on VGA quality?

    Regards

    Jom Sabu

  • In reply to jom sabu:

No, the TVP5150 is not designed to work with VGA cameras.

The supported formats are listed in section 1.1 on the first page of the datasheet.

    BR,

    Steve

    Hi Steve,

The camera output is Composite Video signal(single NTSC/PAL).

    Pixels : 640x480

Could you please go through the attached camera details.

Is it possible to interface with TVP5150?

    Regards

  • In reply to jom sabu:

    Jom,
If the analog output is PAL or NTSC then it should work fine.

As a test, try feeding the camera analog signal into a normal TV CVBS input. If the image is OK, then it will also work with the TVP family of devices.

    BR,
    Steve
