Problems installing CCSv5 into an existing eclipse installation

     Hi,

i am using an eclipsed based modeling tool which is able to generate C-Code. I want to install CCSv5 (5.1.0.09000)  into this eclipse installation. Therefore i checked the button "Install CCS plugins into existing Eclipse installation" and added the correct path. The installation process seems to work fine for me, but after restart i can not select a CCSEdit or CCSDebug perspective. The "new Project" wizzard also don´t show an etntry for a CCS project. However, i checked the plugins in "Help->Install New Software->already instralled" and found that the plugins seems to be in place.

Can anybody tell me whats going wrong. Without having the perspectives and the project wizzard it is impossible to work.

    Thanks for the help

    Thomas Jung

      Hi Thomas,

thanks for this feedback and effort.  I will certainly pass it along and please do keep us informed with your latest variant.  I had already planned to create a wiki topic on installing over eclipse.

I am happy to at least hear that with the proper Eclipse package/tools you were able to get CCS going as a plug-in.

      Best Regards,
      Lisa

      Hi Lisa,

do you think the way i installed the CCS is ok? Do you think it should work?

For me it is important to know because if you will not provide a solution (or a work around or more informations acording the necessary plug ins) i need to think about an other toolchain setup. My goal is to run the modeling tool and the CCSv5 in the same eclipse installation to avoid switching between two eclipse instances.

      Best Regards

      Thomas

      Hi Thomas,

I have given the feedback but cannot really comment myself.

I understand your frustration, but please also understand that CCS as a plug-in is designed to do rely on certain packages and tools from the Eclipse community.  These just happen to be included if you install CCS as it's own program/installation.

I wish I could help further.  If there is further feedback we will post it.  I think that, even if we would love to provide a work around, I do not know that one is possible.

Best Regards and all the best with development.

      Lisa

      Hi Thomas,

I have been continuing to look into this and as mentioned will give any feedback.  Let me run through it as well, but what if you follow your steps but just also selelcting CDT support/installation?

      Best Regards,

      Lisa

      Hi Thomas,

I have been trying to see if your installation path can work and so far no success.   I suspect that CCS will not work (not surprising) on a java version of eclipse.  But let me try a few more things and let you know.  As I mentioned before .. you may need to simply have CCS installed or install over the supported eclipse version.

      Best Regards,
      Lisa

      Hi Thomas,

although I was at one time based in the Freising office, I will not be at Embedded world or in Germany any time soon.

I am afraid that unfortunately CCS as a plug-in requires and assumes certain eclipse functionality which you need to have installed.  I can not seem to find any way to start with the different toolset/java version you do.

      Best Regards,

      LIsa
