Hi
I am running CCS 5.1.0.0900 and MCSDK 1.0.0.15 on a TMDXEVM6618LXE board. I am trying to get System Analyzer to work reliably. I have successfully run the CCS System Analyzer tutorials 1 and 3A. I have also succeeded in displaying CPU Load graphically for two cores with my application. However, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't (i.e. no events are logged and no load graphs appear), for both the tutorials and my app.
I have read mention on these forums that there can be a problem if MCSDK is installed after CCS 5.1. Is this true?
Would there be any merit in me reinstalling CCS 5.1?
If yes, what should I do precisiely (e.g. do I have to uninstall) ?
Best regards
David
Hi David,
What OS are you running? I have heard of some cases where people with Windows 7 ran into similar issues. But it was never confirmed if Windows 7 was the culprit.
Personally, I've found that every so often I have to restart CCS to get data displayed.
Thanks
ki

Hi Ki
I am running Windows 7.
I will try restarting CCS as you suggest.
David,
This should not be related to the MCSDK installation. As Ki mentioned, there is a know issue with System Analyzer initialization which can result in no data showing up. When this problem occurs the only way to recover is to restart CCS.
Let me know if you're ok installing a patch and I'll look at posting one up.
Regards,
Imtaz.

Thanks, I am ok with installing a patch. Please make it available.
Is this the same as bug SDSCM00042361, mentioned in the CCS 5.1.1 release notes?
This issue is tracked as SDSCM00043256 ... the fix will be in CCS5.2 (not 5.1.1). We're in the process of creating the patch. Hopefully we can release later today (ET) if not then Monday.
I posted the DVT (Data Analysis and Visualization Technology) patch up which contain a fix for the intermittent problem in System Analyzer. See instruction below to install. Please let us know if this resolves your problem.
Steps to install DVT patch in CCS5.1.x (This is not compatible with CCS 5.0.x):
Hi Ali
Thanks for the patch. I have installed it and it seems to be working well..
Thanks ali,
I will try.
Best regards,
Lucifar
Does this patch also apply for CCS5.2
Patrick,
This patch should not be required for CCS5.2. Are you running into issues on 5.2?
Yes I do,
For some reason there was nothing collected inside the system analyzer's live view, I have done several attempts and scenario's (simulated, jtag and a lot of the given examples) with no success, not even with the System Analyzer provided examples and tutorials.
Therfore I have upgraded to CCS Version: 5.2.1.00018 and the latest DVT and system analyzer, and it works :-), most likely something.
I am able to collect and see the data in combination with the examples.
