Code Composer Studio V5.1 has suddenly stopped working at startup
Code Composer Studio V5.1 has suddenly stopped working, a box pops up saysing an error has occurred, please the see the log file.
Then pressing OK, shuts down the application, the first meaningful line in the log file mentions not been able to activate the debugserver.
Searching the internet, various faults have been attributed to a missing VC 2005 redistributable, which I believe I have located and re-installed, but still no difference.
Any further ideas,
we have seen sometimes other programs remove the redistriutable c and this causes this exact behaviour.
I would try downloading and installing it again.
You could also search your pc for
or similar. I believe the exe is packaged with CCS, as this is something it requires to run.
Please keep us informed.
I've now followed the link to the microsoft site and downloaded the redistributable, installed it , but when I start up CCS I still get the error messaage after the splash screen
was CCS working previously? I noticed your post mentioned "suddenly stopped working". When you installed did you use the full/offline installer? Did you unzip the install file first? Did you keep all the files in directories which do not have accented or special characters?
Could you please send the contents of you installjammer registry directory? (Found under program files or program files(x86))
Have you installed more than just MSP430 support? Does this startup issue happen consistently?
Originally we bought CCSV4 platinum for an MSP430 project, when I took over you had just released V5 so we installed V5 on my machine, just the MSP430 support and that has been working for the past few months, as the project is nearly finished CCSV5 hasn't been used by me for the past couple of weeks, but last week we required to make a few small changes to the code base and so I started up CCSV5 and this is when the problem started.
It was installed from the internet, onto my machine and ran from my downloads folder. The problem occurs every single time I start up CCSV5, without exception. The splash screen appears then shortly afterwords the pop up box saying check the log files.
None of the directories have any special characters in them.
Above are the log files in the ccs5 directory of installjammer
ok we took another look at your logs and actually the first one you sent ended up being the most useful here. From what we can tell, it appears something uninstalled/removed/corrupted your microsoft redistributable C 2005 which CCS needs. It is important to have the 2005 version.
In your CCS installation you should have a file like vcredist*.exe ... (Eg vcredist_x86.exe)
I believe this is where you can also download it directly from Microsoft.
Please give this a try and keep us informed.
After having no luck using the standalone redistributable from microsoft, I downloaded all 1.1G of CCSV5, unpacked it, and found the file vcredistx86_2005.exe.
When I ran this file one of the interesting things I noticed as it installed was that it said "removing older versions", and when it had finished it and I tried to start up CCSV5, it sprang into life and the GUI is now up and running and everything seems to be working.
Thanks for your help
ok great, glad to hear things are up and running for you. Thanks for the update and all the best with development.
