CCS5 crahses when I debug or terminate

      Hello,

i have a problem with Code Composer Studio v5.1.1.00031 running on a Win7 x64 System: as well

I´m using TI experimenters kit with the F2806x piccolo control card.

Installation of CCS and JTAG-drivers was fine - no problems.

Build of example-project without errors. When I start "Debug" the project, the code downloads to the MCU and runs fine.

However, when I push debug or terminate after I reset and restart the MCU, CCS crashs without any further information.

CCS is new for me, maybe there is a simple checkbox or an option to activate and solve the problem.

      Thank you for your help.

      Hi Adithya,

could you please send us any error logs or .dmp files generated?  Does this happen with all projects and workspaces? Do you have CCS in a directory that has no accented or special characters?  What device support do you have installed?

      Best Regards,

      LIsa

      Hi Lisa,

How do we access the error logs or .dmp files? This seems to happen with all my projects and two different workspaces that I have tried.

      Hi Lisa,

Attached is my error log. I don't seem to generate any .dmp files with my problem. As another user pointed out, when I press terminate, ccs freezes but when I turn off and turn back on the power switch, ccs 5 terminates from debug view and back to the main screen.

      Hi Adithya,

Unfortunately this log has not provided us many clues.  Could you please try generating a debugger log for us?

A debugger log is obtained by going to help->CCS support, selecting debug server logging, enabling it and choosing a valid file name, then repeating whatever the scenario is that causes the issue.

Please give this a try and send us the log.

      Best Regards,
      Lisa

For the debugger log, I made CCS output to a .txt file on my desktop for easy access.

      Hi Aditya,

Did you created your project as static library or an executable one? If you created it as Static library and you are pushing it to debug, then CCS will surely crash....

This may be your problem as you are new to CCS

      Hi Amirtha,

I checked my example program and it is of executable type.

      Hi Adithya,

you are getting a crash in the call to the tixds28x.dvr driver.  I am seeing if I can get a colleague to determine what options there might be to correct this.  As soon as I have any feedback I will let you know.

      Best Regards,
      Lisa

      Hi Adithya,

is there any way you could possibly send us code/steps/detailed information to try and reproduce this here?  Unfortunately we have a good idea where things are crashing but it would be great if we could reproduce the behaviour here.

      Thanks and regards,

      Lisa

I have print screen photos showing what I do.

I am in debug mode making the red LED blink on GPIO 34. In the first photo, the code is running fine when I press F8.

To end the program, I press the following buttons in this order: Reset, Restart, and terminate. Once I press terminate, the screen looks like it does in the photo below:

The screen becomes cloudy and says the program is not responding. However, once this situation happens and I disable power to the experimenter's docking station to the control card, the cloudy screen disappears and CCS returns to the main view. This is seen below:

I hope this helps. Thank you for working with me on resolving this issue.

      Hi Adithya,

thanks for this information.  A development colleague is going to help dig into this, but we will need to ask for your patience as it may take some time.  As soon as there is feedback we will certainly post.

      Best Regards,
      Lisa

      Hi Lisa,

I was wondering if you had any new information regarding my CCS5 crashing.

      Thanks!

      Sincerely,
