CCS/TMS320C5515: Problems installing xdctools for code composer studio

Part Number: TMS320C5515

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi,

I'm trying to install CCS7, and the base installation seems to go okay, but when I try to install the xdctools that comes next, it throws an error. I chatted with TI support which directed me to install using the offline installer, which made sense, but the problem persists. Here is what I'm seeing:

    Hi,

The error is legit and it seems the problem is the plug-in com.ti.ccstudio.webcontent is missing from your install.

Can you go to menu Help --> Installation Details and see if the plug-in is installed?

This plug-in should be present in all versions of CCS from 7.2 and newer.

Also, did you install CCS over a pre-existing version? In general these missing component/plug-in issues tend to happen in this scenario, and thus we recommend to either install in a different directory or completely delete the existing install.

A lesser probability is if somehow the Antivirus software is inadvertently quarantining or preventing to install one or more components of the CCS setup. You could try to disable it during install.

I will think about some additional details and report back any findings.

    Hope this helps,

    Rafael

Okay, I don't think that it's there, but I screenshotted it for you in case you wanted to check:

    Hi,

Thanks for sending the screenshot. Despite it does not reveal if the plug-in com.ti.ccstudio.webcontent is missing or not, it shows a lot more information that may be quite relevant to the issue you are experiencing.

The versions of pretty much all plug-ins shown in your screenshot indicate that you have a number of different old versions mixed in your CCStudio SW - there is a strong chance this is causing the problems with registering the component.

Can you please re-install CCSv7.4.0 on a directory different than the one you are using? For example, instead of C:\ti you can try to install it in C:\ti\ccs740 or C:\CCSv740

This should allow CCS to have compatible set of plug-ins.

    Regards,
    Rafael
