      Hi

I am trying to import a CCS4 project into CCS5 and the error below comes up

Error: Import failed for project -compiler definition is not available

Any suggestion on how to fix this? I am using Stellaris ARM and it looks like the compiler is listed in window/ preferences/ build/compiler Discovered tools - tms470

      Paul

      Hi Paul,

when you installed CCSv5 - did you install Stellaris support|?  what version of v5 are we talking about?  What OS?

This message seems to indicate it can't find the compiler tools.

What do you see if you go to Window->Preferences->Code Composer Studio->Build->Code generation tools?

what if you try pointing CCSv5 to the compiler version from CCSv4?

      Please keep us informed.

      Best Regards,
      Lisa

      Lisa,

Yes I installed Stellaris support. I think that is the only option I choose. Version 5.1.1.00031

      Hi Paul,

how did you attempt to import the project?  Did you go to Project->Import existing CCS/Eclipse Project?  What version compilers do you have in v4 and v5?  Did you try pointing v5 to the v4 compiler version as I suggested?

      Please keep us informed.

      Best Regards,

      Lisa

      Hi Paul,

when do you get the error?  Do you still get the error?  Would you be willing to send the project offline?  It seems your compiler tools are correctly installed ...

      Best Regards,

      Lisa

      Lisa,

I still get the error. I have run many versions of CCS4 with no problem. I did run an early version of CCS 5. Maybe this was not fully uninstalled?

      Hi Paul,

possibly, you could try reinstalling the latest release into a different directory.  But what import steps did you take?  What I mean more is .. when exactly does this error occur?  Screenshot?  Any error logs?  If you wish to send your project offline, we can try to reproduce the issue here.

      Best Regards,
      Lisa

      Hi Lisa,

I installed CCS5 on my notebook computer and I receive the same error, See Screenshot. What files do you need for a project?

      Hi Paul,

what exact example or project are you trying to import?  Could you send the project offline (friend or conversation request)  Is it a C6000/DSP project?  If so, you have no C6000 support installed.  Rerunning the installer will let you add this.

You could give that a try in the mean time.

      Best Regards,
      Lisa

Hi Paul, before we do that there is one thing I just noticed.

I think the problem is that you are using the wrong import utility.

Please create a fresh workspace and make sure to import with Project->Import existing CCS/Eclipse Project ..

      Please keep us informed.

      Best Regards,
      Lisa

      Hi Paul,

so is everything imported and building fine now?   The above looks much better as far as an import.

      Best Regards,
      Lisa
