CCSV5 Updated and now no longer works

Today my CCSV5 updated to

Version: 5.3.0.00090

This whole process took nearly 4 hours to do all it's downloads and install.

Now it no longer works.

On startup it gives me 4 error messages, all the same:

An error has occurred. See error log for more details. org.eclipse.cdt.internal.ui.editor.CEditor.getInputCElement()Lorg/eclipse/cdt/core/model/ICElement;

If I click on update it shows a large number of files needing update (WHat on earth it spent 4 hours doing I don't know if there are still so many updates).

However the updates say:

Cannot complete the install because of a conflicting dependency.

What do I need to do to fix this mess caused by the automatic update!

  • Hi Barry,

    what steps did you take? Can you please confirm what version to what version and how.  ALso could you please zip and send the contents of your isntalljammer registry directory. This is a possibly hidden folder in program files or program files(x86).

    Best Regards,

    Lisa

  • Barry

    The conflicting dependency messages are being caused by the Eclipse "Juno" update site being enabled in your list of available update sites. The Juno site has content that isn't compatible with your version of Eclipse. If the site is turned off, the messages should disappear. To turn off the site, go to Window->Preferences, type "update" in the top left filter box,then select the "Available Software Sites" in the list. In the list of sites, find the one that has a location of "download.eclipse.org/releases/juno" and uncheck it. Save those changes and try to check for updates again.

    If this doesn't work or there is something else that is not working for you, please let us know.

  • Hello Lisa

    The Automatic updates popup came up and said updates available.

    I clicked on that and told it to do the updates, can't repeat because now ther aren't any more automatic updates.

    I don't know exact version I came from 5.2 I believe as I always try to keep up to date when the automatic update prompts.

    Current version is

    Version: 5.3.0.00090

    I clicked on the check for updates and got all the latest and installed them (Once I found out I needed to remove the "Juno" from selected sites)

    Now when I have restarted there are no available sites anymore???

    Trying to clean previously working project

    Errors occurred during the build.

    Errors running builder 'CDT Builder' on project 'DK_LM3S9D92_tcpEcho'.

    org.eclipse.cdt.core.resources.RefreshScopeManager.getResourcesToRefresh(Lorg/eclipse/core/resources/IProject;)Ljava/util/List;

    Looks like the update has basically broken the 8284.InstallJammer Registry.zipeclipse install.

    Attached is the installJammer zip file you requested.

  • Hello AndyW

    Removing the Juno option fixed the conflict and allowed the updates to be installed.

    However unchecking Juno and installing the latest updates then resulted in the Availabl Software Sites now being empty of any sites?

  • Barry,

    It looks like you are installing into "Program Files" which causes some problems for Eclipse. In the normal course of operations, Eclipse likes to write configuration data to its install folder. When the folder isn't writable (as is the case for the program files install), Eclipse will think it is being used in a shared installation scenario. There are some bugs with how this handled. For this reason, it is recommended to not install CCS in "program files". The installer checks if you are installing into Program Files, and provides a warning dialog advising that updates may not work. It does let you proceed, however, if you dismiss the dialog.

  • I Downloaded the latest installer for 5.03.090 and uninstalled my existing CCSV5 and CCSV5.3 (Update had added separate install).

    Then installed into c:\Ti and added my license file (CCSV5 froze just after this and had to be shut down).

    Installed a lot quicker by downloading the offline installer than allowing update to do the downloading.

    CCSV5 now correctky compiles and runs my app as before.

  • Hi Barry,

    very happy to hear and thanks for the update.

    All the best with development.

    Best Regards,

    Lisa

  • Andy and Lisa this is not the case, my ccs v5.2 was installed to c:\ti\ccsv5\

    So i did not receive warning when I automatic update to v5.3; luckily I decided to postpone updating until my last delivery was finished. Since I'm now in precisely the same boat.
    Getting 4 errors:
    An error has occurred. See error log for more details. org.eclipse.cdt.internal.ui.editor.CEditor.getInputCElement()Lorg/eclipse/cdt/core/model/ICElement;

    When trying to build project:

    Errors occurred during the build.
    Errors running builder 'CDT Builder' on project 'ls028_rfgps'.
    org.eclipse.cdt.core.resources.RefreshScopeManager.getResourcesToRefresh(Lorg/eclipse/core/resources/IProject;)Ljava/util/List;

    No sites listed under Available software sites.

    Now my CCS is useless and I need to reinstall.

    Why didn't you pull/stop the update until you were sure what the problem was: REALLY DISAPPOINTING FROM TI.

  • Same for me. Very disappointed with TI.

    We really expect the updates to work.
