CCS v3.2 installation problem (Error 1722)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CCSTUDIO

Hi there,

I tried to install CCS v3.2 several times but all got Error msg: Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personal or package venor.

My system is Windows XP SP3, and I almost did every suggestion I can find online: updated my windows installer, deleted all previous msi files, etc. but none of them works. Can anyone tell me what should I do to fix it? Thanks so much!

I've attached the log file. Thanks again.

TI_ccs3.2_InstallLog.rar
  • BTW, I've checked the other post about CCS installation error 1722 here, followed the instruction not to install DSP/BIOS and checked the regional settings, and I still got the error.

  • Ethan,

According to you log file, the overall install failed when trying to install DSP/BIOS. This occasionally happens on some machines (root cause still unknown). There are two worksaround to try:

    1. You can install CCS without DSP/BIOS. To do this you'll need to replace the setup.msi file that the installer uses (which I can provide).
    2. Try installing CCS when Windows is in Safe Mode

    Thanks

    ki

  • Hi Lee, thanks for your reply. But the thing is, I tried to install CCS without DSP/BIOS, but it still failed. I might have to upload that failure log file later. Thanks.

  • Yes, please upload that log file so I can see where the failur occured for that one.

    Thanks

  • Here is the log file corresponding to the failure without DSP/BIOS.

    TI_ccs3.2_InstallLog.rar
  • I checked the two log files and found this line:

    MSI (s) (6C:34) [15:17:59:281]: Note: 1: 1722 2: SETUPinstallBios 3: E:\setup\DSP_BIOS\dsp_bios_setupwin32_5_21_00_09.exe 4: -options C:\CCStudio_v3.2\options.txt -silent

does it mean the failure is still due to the DSP/BIOS while I chose "NOT" install DSP/BIOS in the custom setup option? Maybe I need the msi file? Thanks.

  • Yes, even if you chose a custom install and unselected BIOS, I believe it still launches the BIOS installer at least.

You can try installing in Windows safe mode. This has help people workaround the issue. If not, I can give you the msi file. However the one I have is CCS 3.3. Is there any particular reason you need to stay with 3.2?

    Thanks

    ki

  • I am OK with v3.3 (actually I tried to install v3.3 but the same error occurred). I would be very appreciated if you send me the msi file. my mailbox: hahardier@gmail.com

    Thank you so much.

  • Thank you so much. And I just noticed my CCS v3.3 is for dsk only, meanwhile in the safty mode, I could not execute setup because windows told me "the Windows Installer cannot be launched in safe mode". Is there another way to launch the setup without DSP/BIOS installation? Or is it possible to use the file you sent in v3.2 installation?

  • This 1722 Error is driving me crazy.... Somehow I managed to launch setup in safe mode, while I still got this error..... I checked the log file, and it shows I just could not avoid that DSP/BIOS install.........

    Copy (3) of TI_ccs3.2_InstallLog.rar
  • Do you need to stick with 3.2?  Any chance of moving to 3.3?  I believe we fixed that always install BIOS problem in 3.3 or we could at least workaround it easier.  CCSv3.2 was really just a temporary release that came out to support the C64x+ architecture while we were not quite ready to release 3.3.  The main differences are that 3.3 supports more ISAs and had a lot more fixes and it still supported.

    Regards,

    John

  • Thanks for your suggestion. And I believe I might not upgrade to v3.3 recently, so can you tell me the possible reason that the DSP/BIOS cannot be installed? Should I change system settings or does it have something to do with the other software in my system?

  • The root cause was never definitively found. It just seemed to appear on certain machines. The only solution that has been known to work is to install CCS without BIOS using the modified MSI file.

  • hello all, I've been having the same problem. I've tried the Java uninstall/reinstall that Support told me to do, no luck; tried not installing BIOS as well as installing through Safe Mode, and still no luck - I still get the 1722 error.

I uninstalled the earlier version, cleared out registry items and folders as per the instructions from Support, and tried the clean install from there.

the version of the software that I am installing is CCS 3.3. the thing is, it was working a few days ago, and the problems began when I had to apply updates in order to interface with a newer board (the Piccolo 28035).

    any help?

  • Hi Everybody;

We are having the same difficulty in installing the CCSv3.3 in our lab computers. It says "Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package... " and stops installation nearly almost %95-98. This installation is essential for us as we would use 6713 series DSP kits in lab with Matlab Simulink.

I read out posted messages on this page and could not find any general solution to this problem. Can anybody have a solution?

System Configuration: WindowsProXPSP3, java is updated

  • Ethan,

From the log you sent it seems you are having the same problem as mentioned in the CCS FAQ. Check this entry.

    Baris,

I am not sure if you are having the exact same issue, but check if your install log (located in C\) shows a similar issue as Ethan's.

    Hope this helps,

    Rafael

  • Rafael, I apreciate for your reply;

Unfortunately that entry did not solved our problem :(( but; we solved it in different way.  : ))

Before installing CCSv3.3; go Start / Control Panel / Regional Settings / Location: USA - Language: English (USA)

Başlat / Denetim Masası / Bölge ve Dil Seçenekleri / Konum: A.B.D. - Tercihler: İngilizce (A.B.D.)

After changing these settings; then no problem with installation and after installation; you can change  these settings as they were...

    Everything works fine.

    Thank you very much,

    Barış

  • Barış,

Thanks for reporting that internationalization may affect the installers as well - I haven't had this problem with my system (Brazilian Portuguese), but it is surely good to know. I will add it to the FAQ entry.

    Best regards,

    Rafael

  • Hello,

I have apparantly the same problem as you all (error 1722), here is the end of the log file :

I've seen some people in the forum having exactly the same problem as me, i posted a message but got no answer...

It appears that there is a modified msi file that could fix the problem, is that true?

If so, could you please send it zipped (i'm afraid my company could consider a msi file as a virus) to :

    daniel.fernandes.external@eads.com

The problem is now showstopper in my project,

    Best regards,

    Daniel

  • Daniel,

I have sent you instructions via private message

    Thanks

    ki

  • Daniel; just look two meggages above.

    That really solves the problem...

  • Hi Lee,

I am have the same issue of installing Code composer V3.2. Can you please share "setup.msi" file.

  • I only have the files for CCS v3.3. 3.2 has not been supported in quite some time. I suggest migrating to at least 3.3 (or even better - CCSv4)

    Thanks

    ki

  • Dear Ki-Soo Lee

I have CCS v3.3.3.2 version and i'm getting error 1722, can you send me the setup.msi file? i'm sending my contact information in private message. thanks for your kind help.

  • Alper; yukarıda yazdığım çözüme bak.

Tüm laboratuvardaki bilgisayarlarda denedik, sorun çözüldü.

CCS 3.3 kurulmadan önce bölgesel ayarları amerika yaparsan kurulum sorunsuz tamamlanıyor.

Kurulum bitiminde tekrar ayarları eski haine döndirsen de sorun çıkmıyor.

  • Hi,

I got the same error 1722. Could you please send msi file to ashokreddy.yannam@gmail.com

Thank you for the prompt response. I am new to this forum. Please let me know how to send private message?

    Thanks,

  • Hi,

I have the same problem. I'm trying to re-install CCS 3.3 on Win7 64bit PC, but I get always the error 1722.

I also tried to reinstall Java since the event view told me there is an error in the dspbios setup. I guess I need the msi install to skip dspbios.

    Thanks,

    Fabio

    6406.TI_InstallLog.zip

  • Hello:

Below is the mail I got from KI before.

    -------------------------------------------------------

    Download this:

    http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_registered_sw/sdo_ccstudio/CCSv3/Patches/No_bios_setup.msi.zip

    And extract the contents (setup.msi).

The go to where you have the CCS 3.3 installer. If you are working with a CD/DVD, copy the contents of the CD/DVD to a local folder. There should be a subfolder called 'setup'. Inside there, replace the setup.msi file with the one from the contents in the zip. Then go back to the setup.exe file one level up and run the installer again. This should bypass the DSP/BIOS installation.

    Thanks

    ki

    -----------------------------------------------------

If you still face the problems better to use Win XP for CCS v3.3 because its not officially supported for Win 7. Else you can start using newer tools like CCSV4.x or CCS v5.x. Good Luck

  • Hello,

Thank you very much. It works well and I've been able to complete the installation without any problem.

I had only two errors related to services (or drivers?) "sdiont" and "XDSFast1_ISA_Bus_Driver", where the Windows Events logger said "unable to start driver", but I ignored them and all worked well.

    Thanks again,

    Fabio
