Can not find simulators in CCS v6.0

A number of packages such as SYS/BIOS, TI-RTOS, DSP/BIOS are available from the App Center within CCS.  You can use the app center to download and install this packages.

As far as simulators, TI is moving away from offering simulators and instead recommending the low cost development platforms such as LaunchPads.  

Which simulator are you looking for?

I am using the TMS320F28335, so that is why I copied tisim_f283x.xml.  You may need to copy one of the other tisim...xml files in the same directory.

I can not understand the decision by TI.

MSP430 launchpad is cheap enough.  However, a 6678 EVM of 599$ is unaffordable for a lot of people, especially students.

Therefore the simulator is indispensable , as far as I am concerned.

I would have a try.

For Keystone/C66 devices the simulators will be available via the app center shortly.  If you can wait a couple days I would do that before copying files around.

Sorry but my earlier statement is inaccurate.  The sims are not going to be available from the app center.

But I have a question. We can simulate our program before select a mcu/dsp. The simulation give some information about the size of memory ( flash/ram ) required, and ...

I understand this approach but it is useful for only microcontrollers. It's not logical for high system like DSPs. I'm using TMS320C5509A and I want to simulate my code on CCSv6. 

Will there be any simulator for DSP in App Center ?

Where specifically did you put the v5 files as far as in the v6 directory? Also, did you copy any other ones? I can't get it to work and I am using the same board as you

I have to use simulators in CCS v6, I am new to CCS. I did the same as you mentioned and copied the folders as you mentioned. Kindly tell me what to do next. I cannot see texus simulator option when configuring target configuration file.

In addition to my most recent post to you, I usually don't keep track of the steps I use to make the simulator work on a new version of CCS.  The easiest one to remember is the simulation directory.  I think all the other the files are located somewhere in the targetdb directory, i.e.

C:\ti\CCS55\ccsv5\ccs_base\common\targetdb\configurations

C:\ti\CCS55\ccsv5\ccs_base\common\targetdb\connections

C:\ti\CCS55\ccsv5\ccs_base\common\targetdb\cpus

C:\ti\CCS55\ccsv5\ccs_base\common\targetdb\devices

C:\ti\CCS55\ccsv5\ccs_base\common\targetdb\drivers

I used winmerge when I first ported the simulator from CCSv5 to CCSv6.    You could do a diff (i.e. winmerge) of the CCSv6 and CCSv5 targetdb directory (remember to include subfolders).  Hide files that are the same and then sort by name and look for files that have either or both sim or your target's name in it.

I had the same problem but in Ubuntu 12.02.

For me, your solution worked fine, but I needed to do some other steps:

- To copy the other two simulation folders (complete directories) in {$TI_FOLDER}/ccsv5/ccs_base/: simulation_keystone1 and simulation_keystone2 to the equivalent drivers folder in CCSv6

- To copy the missing drivers on {$TI_FOLDER}/ccsv5/ccs_base/common/targetdb/drivers/ to the equivalent drivers folder in CCSv6

- To copy the missing connections on {$TI_FOLDER}/ccsv5/ccs_base/common/targetdb/connections/ to the equivalent drivers folder in CCSv6

- To copy the complete configurations folder in {$TI_FOLDER}/ccsv5/ccs_base/common/targetdb/ to the equivalent drivers folder in CCSv6
