This seems to be a common problem with no definitive workaround. I am looking to upgrade from CCSv4 to CCSv6. I'm trying to import our v4 projects and get this error for each one. Our projects were originally developed in CCSv3 and converted to v4. The error does not indicate what meta-data is bad, it just stops importing (very bad programming, in my opinion). I do not even know what file is the problem. How do I workaround this problem?

Some particulars:

Code Composer Studio Version: 6.0.0.00190

Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1

I had a difficult time installing this product, so its possible something didn't get installed correctly.

Are you able to share one of the projects that generates this error during import? If you cannot zip up and share the complete project, please provide all the three .project files. If we can reproduce the error, we can then try to find a workaround.

I can't send the whole project. What are the three .project files? Each project has a .project, .cdtbuild, and .ccsproject file. Are these what you need?

I notice in the .ccsproject file the deviceVariant value is "TMS320C28XX.TMS320F2812". This was the device we were developing for in CCSv3. We are now using the TMS320F28335 The conversion to CCSv4 didn't change this.

Hi Robert,

Each CCS v4 project should also have a required .cdtproject file in its root directory. Without this file these projects cannot be imported. Could you check if you have this file and attach it here?

The .cdtproject file is not in our code repository. It gets created on CCSv4 startup. If I open the project in CCSv4 first then CCSv6, it works.

Hi Robert,

The .cdtproject file is required in order to migrate the project to CCS v6 format. As you've already found out, you can fix your projects by opening them in CCS v4 before importing them into CCS v6.

In general, any files beginning with a dot, in the root of the project, are required project metadata files, and need to be source-controlled.

I am having a similar issue but the original project was created with CCSv5 and I am trying to open it with CCSv5 as well. Perhaps the minor versions are different. But not sure if that matters. Let me know. The project files are attached.

I am having the same problem importing some projects from CCE V3.1 to CCSV6

I have tried opening them in the project but same meta data import issue.

The projects that fail advise me to use the CCS projects import, those which allow me to use the Import general existing project works fine

I cannot import these failing projects using the general imports as it grey's them out and displays the message

Please use the 'Code Composer Studio > CCS Projects' wizard to import the project 'ASE-PSU-2618'.

I am having the same problem. Is there any workaround for this? I too am importing the SPPDemo TI-RTOS version. I really need to get going with my project but I am fighting with CCS.
