CCS v6 or v5 for windows 8

So here's the deal,I'm a newbie to these kits and assigned to do a pretty advanced project (DSP FM Radio) ,I don't even know where to begin am using a TMS320C6416 DSK.

Plus after downloading CCS v6 it won't install,I keep getting an error message saying Application error : Missing value to go with key and it won't install after that.I am using windows 8.

I've realized that v6 has just been recently released so my questions are these:

1. Given that v6 is a new release is it advisable for a newbie who's never done programmed any kit.

2. How do I fix the installation issues with version 6(that is,it is infact advisable to use V6 over V5)

3. Does Texas instruments have any you-tube tutorials on these kits for absolute beginners in these kits,I've seen a few tutorials for older versions but I've had to stop using older version because of windows 8.

       I have installed CCSV6 without problems. Try installing at a new folder with anti-virus disabled.

    Yes, better install CCS v6 as it would've have all the latest features.

    Check whether your firewall and anti-virus are disabled. Also, you're logged in as administrator.

    I've disabled the firewall and the antivirus but the problem persists

    It worked at first but then I got error halfway through the download,I hadn't turned off the firewall.Now it just keeps giving me this error

    I hope CCSv6 folder is completely empty when you try installing again. Try deleting the folder and then installing.

    Siyom,

    Could you confirm whether this is CCSv6.0.0 or v6.0.1 (which was posted yesterday)?  Also, there should be a log file creaed in <installdir>\ccsv6\install_logs. Could you post the contents of that folder here? Thx.

    Yes It's the v6.0.1,I downloaded it just a few days ago,didn't realise this before you mentioned it,could the problem be related to that?

    There's no log file in the directory,there's nothing in there cause I keep getting an error everytime I install after creating  a new folder

    Yes, firewall is blocking the sites. You'll have to disable the firewall and anti-virus for smooth process.

    Siymon,

    In the posted log text there is a "407' http return code. This usually means authentication is needed to get past your network's proxy server. The CCS installed wasn't able to do this. I would recommend using the offline installer. This is available from the CCS download page.
