WANT TO CONNECT XDS510pp PLUS PARALLEL PORT EMULATOR

I am using CCS v3.3 and trying to connect XDS510PP PLUS PARALLEL PORT EMULATOR. I also download the driver from digital spectrum but it doesent work. please suggest me from where i will get this drivers. I also used that SDconfig utility.

When I search for availiable port ..It shows :

** Checking for available printer ports

$$ Printer port available at:
$$ EmuPortAddr=0x378
$$ EmuPortMode=EPP
$$ EmuPortSpeed=1

When I click on verify , it shows

>> Could not read the product id from the emulator/eZdsp.

>> Check the following
>> - Power is applied to the emulator/eZdsp
>> - EmuPortAddr is set properly in sdopts.xml
>> - Used EmuPortAddr=0x378
>> - Used EmuPortMode=SPP8

The USB emulator works perfecty on same board.

DSP used : TMS320LF2407APGEA

Please guide me ......

What do you mean by above? Are you trying to program some other board, if yes then what is the difference between these boards? Also, what does your Device Manager indicate?

  • The emulation driver installations found on this page support only up to Code Composer Studio version 3.1.

And I have Code Composer Studio version 3.3 with Windows Xp Pro + sp3

When I am using the utility SDConfigv3.3, In that When I found the availiable parallel port it shows

    $$ Printer port available at:

    $$ EmuPortMode=EPP
    $$ EmuPortSpeed=1

When I make the setting and verify it shows :

  • Hello,

Have you checked the troubleshooting guide on Spectrum Digital's website?

    http://support.spectrumdigital.com/guides/troubleshooting_guide/

You can also try contacting their support directly as they will have more expertise in this matter.

    Thanks

  • Nops,

    I tried it...

some thing else, is any body using XDS510PP Plus with CCS v3.3 ..??

  • The biggest issue I've had is the parallel port settings. Make sure what you set in the BIOS matches what you set in th SDConfig tool or in the target config. Even then it can be flaky. Sorry, I don't have much more advice. Hopefully others can offer their experiences.

Just like Ki, I used that configuration many years ago. One thing I recall is to never set your parallel port mode in the PC BIOS to ECP. EPP used to work much better.

Also, I recall most printer port converters/adapters did not work reliably. One I used in my laptop computer was the Quatech SPP-100.

One last detail I recall was that some connections required you to plug the 5V power supply, as they did not provide the 5V supply to the emulator.

Apart from this, I am afraid I can't help you much more - the PCs I had with parallel ports are long gone in my office.

    Hope this helps,

    Rafael
