MSP430: Could not erase device memory

Guru 24520 points

Hi Community member,

Please provide your advice for the phenomenon which we met as  below.

[Phenomenon]

My customer programmed the MSP430 via MSP430FET by using Uniflash version3.1.

But they could not program the MSP430 for a few boards(2/100 systems). And showed the following messages at this time.

***********

MSP430: Trouble Writing Memory Block at 0x8000 on Page 0 of Length 0x5034: Could not erase device memory

***********

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Best regards,

Kaka

Is the health of the device fine? Did you check the voltage levels towards the controller? Is it well powered up?

  • Hi Gautam,

    Thank you for your response.

I confirmed the power lines to my customer.  As a result, the VCore is 1.5V. In other power lines are below.

    AVCC:3.0V   DVCC:3.0V

Thus, I request to check the power lines to customer.

If you have met the same phenomenon, would you please provide advice for improving it?

    Best regards.

You have to track the component that is creating this variation in power level. Generally, replacing that device should solve the problem. The device can be the regulator or mcu itself.

  • Hi Gautam,

    Thank you for your advice.

I will request to replace the MSP430 and check whether MSP430 can program or not.

    Best regards,
