Frequent failures updating CCS 6

Hi,

I seem to get frequent failures trying to update CCS 6. I've tried on different machines an OSes - sometimes with different errors. I've made sure that AV is turned off. It seems to fail once CCS restarts to install. The worst thing is that I never get asked to update again and the updates don't seem to have installed completely.

Latest update has CCS trying to downgrade the firmware on my F5529LP's FET whenever I deploy. No idea how to force an update to get rid of this.

  • Hi Fred,

Lets work with one OS for now. Which OS is preferred at your end? Also, with AV you need to turn off the firewall too and run the setup in Administrator mode.

    Regards,
    Gautam
  • Thank you. My main OS (and the installation that seems the most broken) is Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. Firewall and VA were off. My account has a local admin priviledges and UAC was turned off, but I didn't specifically run CCS as Administrator.

I can ensure I run as Administrator next time, but the problem I have is that CCS no longer thinks an update is needed. Is there a way to force this (other than a reinstall and update everything again)?
  • Can you share the screenshot of the error window that you receive while updating?
  • I've had many different problems but as CCS thinks I'm up to date I can get one now. The core of my issue is that if an update fails, CCS seems to behave as if it has installed correctly. You're not asked to update again and I can't find a way to force it.

I ended up completely reinstalling CCS to get it working, ensuring that UAC, AV and firewall was off an that CCS was running as Administrator. The next time it fails I'll post more details.
  • Fred,

Sometimes uninstalling the offending component allows CCS to reinstall it. Check section 7 of the following page:

    Hope this helps,
