How to get started with CCS6 and Tiva C TM4C123G

Hi All,

Total newbie here. This isn't my first go around with tools or embedded.

Could I please get a hand starting out with the CCS and Launchpad TM4C123G? I was following a workshop (probably not closely enough) and it won't even try to compile, not knowing where /include is. I've got the com port open and can play with the ">" prompt.

I installed like 4 different programs... can they make it any more difficult?

I'll keep at it and reply if/when I figure it out.

Hi Chris,

The workshop for Tiva Launchpad was made years ago. It is not updated to current Tivaware release. If you are not familiar with what changes need to be made, you will encounter compile errors.

One option is to use a working example program from Tivaware like "hello" and then add the lab codes.

Also, I recommend you to go through the workshop for Tiva Connected Launchpad, to get familiarity how to setup CCS for Tiva Launchpad. Download the workbook pdf from the link below.

Thanks for replying. I went back to the Cycpress PSoC boards since I was at a standstill with Launchpad. Once I get the immediate R&D done, I'll come back to this.

I wouldn't mark this as verified yet. Trying to install the IDE failed for me and drove me back to Cypress. That I consider their IDE easier... yikes.

Hi Chris,

Lots of people here have successfully installed CCSV6 at their PC's. If you have problems installing CCSV6 post the details of the problem here, so E2E members here can help you.

CCSV6 may seem complicated at first use. But, once you have read some guides regarding CCSV6, you will find out that it is not that complicated.
