Does the XDS100V2 support for RM44L520

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: RM44L520, HALCOGEN, RM48L952

Hi there,

My development system tool are CCS Version: 6.0.1.00040, HALCoGen04.04, XDS100V2.
The XDS100V2 should support the RM44L520, but I can not find the target MCU in CCS when XDS100V2 was set up as a simulation tool.
is there some one can tell me the reason and what can I do?

Thanks,

Dison

  • Hello Dison,

    RM44L520 should be there under XDS100v2;

If it is not, please confirm that you installed device support for Hercules when you installed CCS:

And try checking for updates (Help -> Check for Updates)

    Thanks

  • Hi ki

    Thanks for your reply.

You are right, After I re-install the ccs6.1. I got it.

A project was created by HalCoGen, that was shared with CCS 6.1. I generated the code and build all in CCS6.1.

Everything was good, The JTAG passed the inspection by "test connection" button function.

When I want download the code to MCU, I got a error which show below.

    Error connecting to the target:
    (Error -241 @ 0x0)
A router subpath could not be accessed.
A security error has probably occurred.
    (Emulation package 0.0.0.0)

Could you help me to find failure point?

    Thanks,

    Dison

  • Are you using a launchpad/kit or is this a customer board with an external XDS100v2?

    Thanks

  • Hi Ki,

I use a XDS100V2 board connect my laptop and my production PCB which have been passed inspection by RM48L952 MCU.

I just change the MCU to RM44L520 , and the MCU RM44L520 have passed the inspection of JTAG. But it was failure when I want download the code which was generated by HalCoGen.

Would you help me what reason can cause the error?

    Thanks,

    Dison

  • Hi ki,

I create a new project in CCS6.1. I found the project's properties setup was difference with CCS6.01. Please see :

Is the newest CCS6.1 right which I just install yesterday?

    Thanks,

    Dison

  • The properties look different because in the one on the right, you have exposed the "advanced options" while the one of the left hides it (see the link in lower right corner of each dialog).

    Thanks

  • Hi Ki,

    Oh, Right!  Thanks!

So my CCS6.1  should be right.

I use a XDS100V2 board connect my laptop and my production PCB which have been passed inspection by RM48L952 MCU.

I just change the MCU to RM44L520 , and the MCU RM44L520 have passed the inspection of JTAG. But it was failure when I want download the code which was generated by HalCoGen 04.04.

Would you help me what reason can cause the error (showed below)?

    Error connecting to the target:

    (Error -241 @ 0x0)

A router subpath could not be accessed.

A security error has probably occurred.

    (Emulation package 0.0.0.0)

    Dison

  • DIson,
I'm not too familiar with the error myself. However I searched around in this forum and it seems like it is some HW configuration problem on the target. See:

  • Hi Ki,

    Thanks for your reply.

The PCB was work very well before I remove the MCU RM48L952. Because I found the two kind of MCU (rm48l952 and rm44l520) is compatible by pin to pin, so I change the MCU from RM48L952 to RM44L520. Their peripheral circuit is exactly same.

For soldering, I have checked every power input pins , ground pins, system pins (osc, n_reset, n_ error and pro-reset) and JTAG interface pins. All of them are ok.

Because the JTAG interface have been passed the "test connection" inspection in CCS, so I think the hardware should be ok. But when I try to download my code to MCU, I got the error before the flash be erased.

Could you help me to think if I have some problem  in CCS and HanCoGen setup.

    Thanks,

    Dison

  • Hi ki,

The enclosure is my CCS6.1 setup for RM44L520.

    CCS6.1SETUP.rar

Would you help me review them. Maybe there is some error there.

    Thanks,

    Dison

You may want to try posting in the Hercules forums. I'm just not familiar enough with the differences between the two devices (and the packaging) to comment on this. Sorry
