Can't modify register values of TMS320F28377D using CCS6.1.1.00022 debugger and XDS100v2

I am debugging a dual core project.  All is well except that I cannot modify register values using the CCS6 debugger.  Register values are displayed accurately and the debugger works as expected in other areas but register values will not change after typing in a new value in the 'Registers' panel.  Interestingly, I can modify variables in the 'Expressions' panel.  Any help would be appreciated.

  • Hi Joel,

As far as my knowledge, you won't be able to modify Register values in real-time and yes as you correctly observed Variables can be!

  • I should mention that I can't modify registers even when debugger is paused. This doesn't seem right.
  • Hi,

Unfortunately there is an outstanding bug that prevents changing register values from the register view.

The bug number is SDSCM00052457 and you can check its status in the link SDOWP in my signature below. It will be available in the upcoming release 6.1.3 of CCS.

As a workaround, you can add the name of the register to the Expressions or the Memory Browser views.

    I apologize for the inconvenience,
    Rafael
