Legacy Products in CCSv6?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM5728, TMS320C6748

We have just recently created a new product using the AM5728, Sys/Bios and CCS v6.1.1, CGT V8.1.0.

However, we also continue to support older products that were based on C6748 and C6482, using Dsp/Bios, CCS v5.5, CGT v7.4.5.

With an earlier version of CCS, V6.0.1 I believe, we were able to use the v7.4.5 compiler and build our projects and get the same exact output products.

However, now with CCS v6.1.1, when I try to import a legacy project I get this:

This project was created for a device not currently supported: TMS320C67XX.TMS320C6748. Check for updates and visit the CCS App Center to get the latest device support, or migrate the project to closest matching supported device by adjusting project properties.

Our CM group will need to be able to build both the new and the legacy products. I don't want to have to tell them they need two different physical machines, but that seems like the only answer.

What options do you suggest for moving forward with this issue?

  • Hello,
C6748 is still supported. I see support for it in my CCS v6.1.3 install. What is likely missing is device support for it in your CCS installation. If you did a custom installation, you would have needed to select "C6000 Single-core Device Support" under "Single Core DSPs" to enable C674x support. If you did not, you can rerun the same installer you used to originally install that version of CCS and choose the existing installation directory to add components to your installation.

    Thanks

  • Yes, that was it. I think I confused that the newest compiler version will no longer support those older processors. CCS worked fine once I added the Single-core option as you mentioned. Thanks.

A funny coincidence, I was watching your CCS 6.2.0 Webinar Video when this reply came in.
