CCS/SW-EK-TM4C129EXL: TivaWare EK-TM4C129EXL development package not discovered by CSS7 on Windows 7

Part Number: SW-EK-TM4C129EXL
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: EK-TM4C129EXL

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hello,

When I open my macOS-created CCS project file on Windows 7, CCS (v7.0.0.00042) complains that "Product 'tm4c v2.1.3.156 is not currently installed and not compatible version is available. Please install this product or a compatible version' . However, I have installed the TivaWare EK-TM4C129EXL firmware development package already (resulting in a directory C:\ti\TivaWare_C_Series 2.1.3.156). It seems that CCS is just not able to discover it. I tried the following to work around this, with no success:

  • Installed it in different locations, including my home directory
  • Used "Rediscover Installed products" in the CCS Preferences Products section
  • Used Resource Explorer to de-install and re-install, but it did not allow me to do because it "is an imported package, thus can not be removed from within Resource Explorer".

All include files seem to be present in the installation location though and I am able to work around this by 'manually' pointing to the right include locations

On macOS, everything seemed to work fine out of the box.

Thanks in advance,

Reinier

  • This issue was resolved by uninstalling CCS7, re-installing it and then installing the TivaWare package using the Resource Explorer.

Previously, I had used the separately downloaded executable called SW-EK-TM4C129EXL-2.1.3.156.exe so apparently that one does not work well. After "uninstalling" CCS, many (all?) files were still present in C:\ti\ccsv7, with a total size of 1.5GB.

  • Thank you for reporting back that the issue is resolved.

Yes, the "uninstall" process does not always remove all files. It is best to simply delete the CCS installation directory before doing a reinstall to the same directory.
