CCS/MSP432P401R: Resource Explorer includes path error for Examples>TI Drivers>empty

Part Number: MSP432P401R

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I was trying to import the TI Drivers > empty example for MSP432 and ran into an error:

Looks like there's a slash missing between "simplelink_msp432_sdk_1_30_00_40" and "examples" in whatever definition file Resource Explorer uses for this stuff.  The examples folder is there (and while this dialog box isn't showing me the full path, I was able to walk down the rtos folder and find it).

I am able to import this project manually using the File>Import...>Code Composer Studio>CCS Projects feature, browsing into "C:\ti\simplelink_msp432_sdk_1_30_00_40\examples\rtos\MSP_EXP432P401R\drivers\empty\tirtos\ccs" first.

  • I can confirm I see the same thing on CC13x0 SDK 1.30 Mac OS X version. Correct resources are notified!
  • In reply to Firefighter:

dev.ti.com was updated to fix this issue. Anyone seeing this problem will have to clear their metadata database as follows:

    • delete <users>/ti/tirex-localserver-3.0.0 folder
    • restart ccs
  • In reply to Imtaz Ali:

Hmm, after doing that and restarting CCS (also removed from offline use the MSP432 SDK and re-imported it), I get an error trying to import the TI Drivers > empty example:

Error: Imported project-spec file not found: C:\ti\simplelink_msp432_sdk_1_30_00_40\examples\rtos\MSP_EXP432P401R\drivers\empty\tirtos\ccs\${COM_TI_SIMPLELINK_MSP432_SDK_INSTALL_DIR}\kernel\tirtos\builds\MSP_EXP432P401R\release\ccs\tirtos_builds_MSP_EXP432P401R_release_ccs.projectspec!
  • In reply to Eric Brundick:

Also, trying to import the TI-RTOS "hello" example:

Error: Product-type 'com.ti.SIMPLELINK_MSP432_SDK' is not recognized. Please install version '0.0' or a compatible version of this product before creating this project.
  • In reply to Eric Brundick:

Someone else was having a similar issue and in that case the IDE guys narrowed it down to a license.txt file in c:/ti folder. There is a bug in the IDE where it will not discover any of the packages in c:/ti if a license.txt file exists in that folder. If you do have such a file can you try delete/rename and see if that fixes the problem.
  • In reply to Imtaz Ali:

Thanks, my issue wasn't a license.txt but there were two .lic files in C:\ti - I moved them to a subfolder and now everything imports correctly.
  • In reply to Eric Brundick:

Hi, I've a similar problem, and given solutions seem not to work for me. I would like to know wher I can find

COM_TI_SIMPLELINK_MSP432_SDK_INSTALL_DIR, so I see its setting!

    rgds,

    Laurent

  • In reply to Laurent van Poppelen:

I think that ships in with the TI-RTOS project, but, it gets it from the SimpleLink product which I couldn't figure out how to view. I have resorted to using the TI-RTOS "error" example as my starting point, stripping out the tasks it comes with and putting my own stuff inside. That's a compact one-project solution.
  • In reply to Laurent van Poppelen:

Thanks Eric. But might be a good idea that, if a path error occurs, the path is shown in 'error details' first with the 'defines' and a second time fully expanded. Might make the error message more useful!
  • In reply to Laurent van Poppelen:

    Eric, Laurent,

FYI - a known product discovery issue has been fixed in CCS, and a new CCS v7.1.0.00016 is now available for download at http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Download_CCS.  Please upgrade to it when you have a chance.

    Thanks,

    - Baltasar
