CCS/TMDXEVM5515: how to use JTAG to debug on EVM5515

Hello,

I am currently using 'Spectrum Digital DSK-EVM-eZdsp onboard USB Emulator' to perform a debug on EVM5515 board. But we need to remove the USB emulator on our own board. Can I use JTAG port to perform the debug and how?

When building your own board you would have a JTAG header on it and you would use a standalone debug probe such as TMDSEMU110-U to debug it. The Spectrum Digital C5515 EVM has a JTAG header on it as well in addition to the onboard debugger that could be used for reference.

Hi John,

Thanks for your prompt reply. My question is :

In http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/sprui94/sprui94.pdf, it is said that TMDSEMU110-U needed CCS7 or higher. But I am using CCS3.x for MDK development which doesn't support CCS7 and was discontinued to be further support from TI. So is there any way to debug with CCS3.x thru JTAG or with other debug tools that supported by lower version?

Unfortunately it is not possible to use the XDS110 (TMDSEMU110-U) with CCSv3.x. For a JTAG debugger you will need to obtain either an XDS100 or XDS510 from one of our 3rd party partners. XDS100 is the cheapest option and there are a number of companies that produce them.
